Freeze-Dried Fruit Powders

Freeze-Dried Fruit Powders

During the freeze-drying process (also known as lyophilization), foodstuff is frozen and subjected to vacuum, which removes water from the cells through sublimation, thereby preserving the nutrients, color, flavor and format of the ingredients. Water removal allows for a much longer shelf life, at room temperature, without the need to add preservatives, providing stability and much more. Lyophilization is considered the best way to preserve food!

Açai

Very energetic and rich in antioxidant properties, açai is the fruit of a palm tree typically found in the Amazon. Brazil is considered to be the main producer, exporter and consumer of the fruit. Widely known as a superfruit, the açai is highly nutritious! We only use top quality açai due to our ability to efficiently monitor the entire production chain in depth, inspecting the producers before approving them as suppliers. Both factors allied to a careful freeze-drying process lead to a unique ingredient, internationally recognized for its superior quality and nutritional profile.

Açai holds countless benefits by providing high levels of fiber, vitamin E, calcium, magnesium and iron. It is an excellent energy source due to the high calorie content. The fruit has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects thanks to polyphenols, with emphasis on anthocyanins. Moreover, açai also has significant Omega 6 and Omega 9 content. Omega 6 is an essential fatty acid – in other words, it should be ingested with food, because the human body is not able to synthesize it.

Acerola

Also known by other names, such as Barbados cherry or West Indian cherry, the acerola cherry grows on a small tree and becomes red when ripe. Found in over 40 varieties, the fruit potential was discovered around 50 years ago, when researchers confirmed that is has an amount of vitamin C forty times higher than that of the orange. It also contains carotenoids, polyphenols, vitamins and minerals.

These findings have supported its wide use today, as an excellent antioxidant and one of the greatest natural sources of vitamin C.

Coconut Water

Coconut water is a natural juice that comes from the inside of the coconut. It is rich in electrolytes, mainly potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and calcium. Thus, it is a natural isotonic drink, highly hydrating and fat-free. It has a soft aroma and flavor, and it is a very popular natural refreshing drink in tropical countries, where it is often associated with a healthy lifestyle.

Banana

Bananas provide a substantial amount of energy right after they are consumed. Due to their high nutritional value, especially due to their high potassium content, experts recommend including them in our diet.

Blueberry

Exotic, versatile and full of flavor! Known for its antioxidant power, the blueberry – or bilberry – belongs to the Vaccinium genus, which includes over 150 species. Due to its limited seasonal availability and its perishable nature, the lyophilization of blueberries is an effective way to preserve its nutritional properties, with emphasis on the presence of phenolic compounds in high concentration.

Positive health effects of blueberry consumption have been attributed especially to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory potential.

Dragon Fruit (Pitaya)

Exotic, exuberant and beautiful by nature! Full of color and flavor. Also known as “dragon fruit”, the pitaya has caught a lot of attention in the exotic fruit market due to its striking colors and high nutritional value. There are 16 species of pitaya and most come from Latin America. We offer the pink pitaya (Hylocereus polyrhizus) to the market.

Positive health effects of pitaya have been attributed especially to the presence of substances with antioxidant properties, including vitamins, phenolic compounds and natural pigments.

Jabuticaba

This fruit originates from the Atlantic Forest and is present in many backyards and orchards throughout Brazil. With a black skin and white pulp embedding one sole seed, it presents a sweetened flavor with a touch of acidity. The jabuticaba fruit grows from the tree’s trunk. It’s a perishable fruit that starts to ferment as soon as it is picked.

The lyophilization process helps with the preservation of its flavor and nutrients.

The jabuticaba fruit is notable for its high polyphenol content. Our freeze dried jabuticaba fruit contains over 5% total polyphenols. The polyphenols, along with vitamins A, C and E present in the fruit, give it strong antioxidant properties. Moreover, the jabuticaba fruit is also rich in fiber and is a source of minerals such as zinc and copper.
